Chapter 56 - Time Zones

Lines of longitude are not evenly spaced as are lines of latitude. The further you are from the equator, the closer the lines are.

Since a day is 30 hours long on Dragaera, that means every 12 degrees (360/30) you travel east or west, you are an hour ahead or behind, and the further from the equator you are, the shorter the distance you have to travel.

The following map displays a time zone overlay on top of the Empire, centered around Dragaera City. Each zone is 12 degrees (1 hour) across.

This suggests that the time difference between Blackchapel and Castle Black is only about two hours, which seems a bit low:

Morrolan was more than a little startled to discover, upon returning to Castle Black [from Sylava], that it was only a little past the hour of noon ... he was still attempting to calculate an explanation for the odd behavior of the Furnace, which he could tell (being above the Enclouding) was far higher in the sky than it ought to be ... in Blackchapel ... it was late afternoon ... how can it be late afternoon in Blackchapel, and just barely noon here? / Blackchapel is east of us--considerably east of us (Sethra Lavode, Chapter 99)
